My original intention for MSTS was to produce routes as I was already used to making buildings and scenery for the MS Combat Flight Simulators (CFS1 and 2). However after a bit of thought I have decided to have a go at producing working locomotives for Train Simulator. This was helped by the availability of a free high quality 3D modeling program, gMax, and a successful first locomotive produced using Volker M. Bollig's excellent tutorial (available here).

The first model that has been produced was the diesel shunter from from Volker M. Bollig's tutorial.

Diesel gtd1 hauled by the work's shunter (based on the Bluearrow SVR Pannier tank model by Terry Thornton) out of the main works building.

Diesel and shunter out on a test run on Merseyside heading towards the Bankhall area of Liverpool.

British Railways Class 7 Mixed Traffic locomotive

More commonly known as the "Britannia" class. The first of a new generation of steam engines designed and built for British Railways during the 1950's. No. 70000 Britannia was the first to be completed in January 1951 and is one of two members of the 55-strong class that survived into preservation (the other being 70013 Oliver Cromwell).

The trainsim model is being developed with the next generation of train simulators in mind such as Train Master Train Simulator (TMTS) and Kuju Rail Simulator (KRS) and as such is expected to have a poly count in excess of 20000 polys for the engine alone.

The following development picture will be updated as and when progress and university work allows:
